UniPath ("the app") is a South African study-guidance platform operated by UniPathTech (Pty) Ltd. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Questions? Contact us at mkhabelatom@gmail.com.
Most of your personal information never leaves your phone. Your profile (name, grade, province and school details), your selected subjects, the marks you enter, your APS score and your saved programmes are stored in your device's local storage. This data is removed when you delete your account in the app or uninstall the app.
When you create an account, we store your name and email address with our authentication provider so you can sign in. We also store: (a) usage analytics events — such as the screens you view, programmes you open, application links you tap, your APS score and related study-option context — used to understand how learners use UniPath and improve the app; and (b) a log that your welcome email was sent. Analytics records are visible only to UniPath administrators.
If you choose "Scan Report Card", the photo you take is uploaded to private, access-controlled storage — it is never publicly accessible and there are no predictable public links. The image is processed by our AI provider to read your subjects and marks, using a short-lived access link that expires shortly after processing. You can always enter your marks manually instead.
When you chat with UniPath AI, your question, your verified study-option context (which can include your subjects, marks, APS score, grade, province and saved programmes) and the recent conversation are sent to a third-party AI provider in order to generate a response. Conversations are not stored on our servers; we record only anonymous AI usage events (for example, the category of question asked) for product analytics.
We send you a welcome email when you register. If you opt in, we email you application deadline reminders and opportunities that match your results — you can switch this off anytime in Settings. Messages you send through Help & Support go to our support inbox together with the name and email you provide.
UniPath runs on the Base44 platform, which provides hosting, authentication, database, file storage, email delivery and platform-level analytics. These providers process information (such as your account details, device and usage information) only to operate the service, under their own privacy policies. We never sell your information, share it with universities or colleges, or use it for advertising, and the app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
UniPath is designed for South African high-school learners. We collect only the information described above — the minimum needed to calculate an APS score and match study options — and do not knowingly collect more information than that.
Data is encrypted in transit, access to learner analytics is restricted to UniPath administrators, and administrative areas are protected by role-based permissions at the database level. Report card uploads live in private storage with expiring access links.
We keep your server data only as long as your account is active. Deleting your account (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) permanently removes your analytics history and email records from our servers, clears your device data and signs you out. You can also request deletion without signing in from the Account Deletion page on our website.
You can view and correct your profile and marks anytime in the app (My Profile and Update My Results), opt out of emails in Settings, and delete your account and data at any time. To exercise any other right, contact us at mkhabelatom@gmail.com.
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and the version inside the app. Continued use of UniPath after a change means you accept the updated policy.
